To preserve bandwidth, our free access Family History database has now been withdrawn. However, you can still gain access to thousands of our Family History records.

Founded back in the middle of 2007, over recent months we have expanded our Family History Database and added a lot of new features and additional information. Now contained on its own dedicated website, our Digest Family History site will undoubtedly prove to be the most comprehensive source of family history information for the local area. With membership fees currently available for the equivalent of just £2.50 per month this is the ideal time for you to pledge your support and help to ensure that the Digest Family History website meets the needs and expectations of everyone. Visit our Digest Family History website and become one of our founding members today.

Online Store

The Digest Magazine may no longer be in publication but copies of many previous issues are still available in our Online Store. Several Pontefract issues are unfortunately no longer available but there is still time to get hold of the remaining issues while they are available. Due to the nature of those unique magazines it won't be too long before they become collectors items and highly sought after so it would be a good idea to put a collection away while you can. Some of the remaining issues are in very short supply and they won't be available for much longer.

Photo Gallery

Our photo gallery has been retained from the previous website and contains a large collection of images donated by Pontefract Museum and depicting all areas of Pontefract and Knottingley. In addition we also have a superb collection of photographs taken on launch day at John Harker's shipyard in Knottingley featuring many of the companies vessels which were amazingly constructed right alongside the main Weeland Road. Perhaps you can recall making that well-remembered trip from your school classroom to view the latest launch?
